BPA in Plastic Containers

Are you concerned about the chemicals in the plastics?

Bisphenol A or BPA is a chemical used in hard plastic containers, such as lining of metal cans, water bottles and food storage containers. The BPA from the container can be transformed into food or drinks, BPA effects hormone such as estrogen level which may leads to fertility problems and increase cancer risks in high doses. Health of Canada says the amount of BPA that most of you exposed to these containers is not enough to be a risk to our health.

Even though the amounts of BPA were expose to you was safe, it’s a good idea to limit your exposure to containers that may contain BPA. Even if a plastic container is a BPA free, follow these tips to help limit your exposure to other chemicals.

You cam find out if a plastic container has BPA in 2 ways:

1. BPA labels

Look for a label that says BPA free

2. Bottom number

Check the number or recycling code on the bottom of the container. The numbers 1, 2, 4, or 5 mean BPA-Free. If the container has 3, 6, 7 and no number on the bottom, it may have BPA in it.
