Of the 7 different plastic types, LDPE is marked with 4, LDPE is short for LOW DENSITY POLYETHYLENE. Guess what HDPE and MDPE stand for? Yep, high and medium.

Squeezability

HDPE is not very squeezable, MDPE is medium squeezy, and LDPE is the most squeezable of them all. LDPE is squeezy but also incredibly flexible and tough, almost the point of being unbreakable.

Usage

LDPE holds on its shape, that’s why it’s ideal for products that needs a good squeeze. Container packaging supply has a larger selection of LDPE containers. You can use LDPE containers for sauces, lotions, creams, honey, eye drops, contact lens lotion, shampoo and conditioners. It can also be translucent, or colored. LDPE is used in a lot of different kinds of common household products: bags for bread, dry cleaning, fresh produce and trash cans are made of LDPE. It can also be uses for coating paper milk cartons and some hot coat beverage cups.

HDPE

HDPE Can withstand temperatures from -148 to 176 degrees Fahrenheit and resistant to most chemical solvents. Thus it is widely used in plastic bottles(cosmetic containers), toys, chemical containers and pipe systems. HDPE is also a kind of cost effective plastic.

LDPE, MDPE and LDPE are all polyethylene, which is the most widely used plastic.
